Aging Wrinkles

When your skin becomes thin through age and loses its elasticity, aging wrinkles form.

When your skin losses its suppleness, the lines on you face remains after you make an expression : either by frowning, laughing or squinting. The skin loses its ability to ‘bounce back’ to its smoothness and the aging wrinkles begin to show.

Here is the thing : aging is inevitable.

Sooner or later, no matter what you do, some fine lines are going to appear – especially if you are going to live to a ripe old age.

Go here for more information on facial skin care.

The thinner skin around the eyes are the first to show signs in the form of ‘crow’s feet’, followed by the lips and the cheeks.

As we age, our skin becomes dryer and thinner, but this is not the only contributing factor to aging wrinkles. Diet, exercise, stress, habitual facial expressions, the environment, muscle tone, the method of skin care (or lack of), smoking and lifestyle all play a contributing role.

The biggest culprit of all is the sun.

90% of what we think is natural aging of the skin is actually over exposure to the sun, as the rays erode the elastic tissues in the skin, causing aging wrinkles.

The ultra-violet-A rays (UVA) is present all the time, everywhere. It is there when you get out of the car to go to the supermarket, take a short stroll in your garden, or just walking from A to B out in the open.

70% of skin damage is done during these everyday activities.

So whilst it is essential to pile on the sun block when you are on the beach, it is equally as important to wear a sunscreen of minimum spf 15+ on a daily basis. Living in a hot dry country where the sun is fierce even during the winter months, I wear a spf 50+ sunscreen daily.

A hat and sun-glasses are also a must. Your hair can age and get damaged too under too much sun.

So invest in a good sunscreen of at least spf15 for daily use and use it! Here are two that you may want to check out :
